Back to Tinker

Tinker Core Program - Age 6-8 | Level 1

In Level 1, students learn basics of commands for robots, design and simple programming. We start with logical thinking to move robots systematically, then moving on to spatial and geometric design, and finally program stories using sequences, loops, conditionals.

Featured Courses

Robotics is designed for young children to learn the fundamentals of robotics and programming.

Robotics

This course is designed for young children to learn the fundamentals of robotics and programming. Using intuitive iPad-based apps, students practice giving commands to the robots using blocks-based programming through working on coding challenges and projects. Utilising tools such as BeeBot, Dash & Dot and Sphero, students practise mathematical and programming concepts such as time, speed and conditionals. Through visual and real-world execution of their code, students start to appreciate how software interacts with hardware to develop computational thinking skills.

Introduction to 3D Printing & Modeling

In the 3D Printing and Modeling course, students are introduced to 3D modeling and printing techniques to the 3D natives. We start with an introduction of 3D modeling, navigating through the interface of TinkerCad, a beginner friendly 3D modeling software, then dive into 3D design elements and principles, dissect how 3D printer works, and move into modeling more complex structures.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Genius Hour

At First Code, we believe that learning continues beyond the classroom. Genius Hour aims to foster a community of creators, where students can come together outside of weekly lesson time to continue building their favourite coding projects with guidance from our team of instructors.

First Code Pitch

'Do things Tell People' is one of our core classroom values, stemming from our belief that confidence and taking pride in our work is a key life skill for young learners. With First Code Pitch, students take to the stage to showcase their projects and get inspired by peers.

AppJamming Summit

Since 2014, the yearly app development competition has inspired a community of coders from as young as age 8. Open to all students from the region, the competition has seen range of creative apps that have gone on to win prizes at the global AppInventor Summit at MIT in Boston.
