"Every day at First Code I work on a variety of different tasks including product development, teacher training, parent communication, and of course, teaching! I feel incredibly lucky to be able to combine my passion in technology and the endless inspiration from the kids we teach. When I’m not at office, you can likely find me trying out new recipes in my kitchen, reading a book or doing TRX in a park."

Kevon C

Kevon C

Co-founder & COO

Kevon has a mix of business and programming background. Started to build websites at 14-year-old, he always knows that his passion is with technology. He joined Michelle in the early stage of First Code and trusts that coding will open doors for more young people to explore the impossible.

"I love building things from nothing to something. I am now focusing on Operations, People Operations, and Software. The laughter in our classrooms and the confidence in our kids' eyes really got me. First Code is not just a startup or a coding school, it is a mission and a lifestyle. We're creating a place where team members are excited to get together and students are thrilled to come to classes. We're full of dreams, energies, and determination. If I'm not at First Code, you might find me at home coding or reading and running outdoor."

Aaron K

Aaron K

Instructor

Hailing from an engineering background, Aaron always had a strong interest in Science & Technology. His passion in programming grew when he crossed paths with Computer Science in a senior-year course while on an exchange programme at Princeton University. He graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a major in Civil Engineering and has been involved in the detailed design of several large-scale civil engineering projects during his time at Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong.

"Being the direct mentor of our kids in learning programming at such a young age is fulfilling. I'm able to guide them to progress from lesson one, often with zero coding experience, to completing a mobile app or website by the end of the term. At First Code, everything is moving really fast and I enjoy learning together with a team of exceptional and fun people! You could probably find me spotting aircraft at airport, reading or exercising when I am not in the office."

Simmy Y

Simmy Y

Campus

Simmy was born and raised in Hong Kong, and spent her high school years in Vancouver.. After graduating from university, she moved back to Hong Kong and joined Informatics to handle school administration of the Distance Master and Bachelor programs in UK & Australia. Before joining First Code, she worked in a  Investment Management company for almost 7 years. As an Administrative and Management major, Simmy always had a love for things neat and orderly. She is passionate about education for children and she believes the road to success is through "TRYING".

"First Code Academy is a magic palace with positive, joyful, friendly and energetic elements around.  Full of laughter and satisfaction in everyday classes.  You discover what is called " the infinite universe of a child" in here, as kids rely on their creativity and their knowledge of coding to make their own apps, even if they are only 6 years old. You can see how presentable and how confident the kids who learn in First Code are.

Team spirit is really strong in FCA, our working culture is like a family, friends more than colleagues.  We learn and help each other, even if we all have different roles.  I work on a variety of tasks including administration, planning, and decision making.  I feel amazingly lucky that I work here, back in the education field. My idea of the perfect day would start with an Americano.  When I am out of office, I am the amiable mom taking care of my daughter, being a tutor for her  school work, a bedtime storyteller of my little sweetheart as well as a recreation team leader of my family too."

"Ever since my first encounter with coding in my freshman year in university, I have always been amazed by its power. I have always wondered - “why start coding so late?”, until I got to know First Code. Teaching young people to code? Brilliant idea! I am so jealous of what kids can learn nowadays - it would have been one of my favorite after-school activities! Now here I am - in a young team full of energetic and supportive people. Being in First Code is not about "working" at all - I learn, grow as a person and inspire the future generations. Everything has been so rewarding and enjoyable here. What's the best part? My hobby is now part of my job!"

Yang L

Yang L

Instructor

Made in China and raised in Australia, Yang is a lawyer turned web developer with a Law degree and a Finance degree from Monash University. Coming from a family of teachers and educators, Yang has 5 years of experience in tutoring, teaching, and managing teachers at a leading weekend school in Melbourne.

The greatest reward for an educator is to see the successful fostering of skills, confidence and pride in their students and mentees. When I am not teaching, writing curriculum or coding, I like to read, play the saxophone and practice Muay Thai."

Grace H

Grace H

Instructor

Born and raised in a multilingual country, Grace speaks six languages and programming is her seventh. Her passion for children got ignited when she worked as a YMCA summer camp coordinator in California. With technology revolving around us in our daily lives, Grace believes that programming is the new literacy and it should be the Generation Z's new channel of communication.

Grace graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a major in Mathematics. During her studies, she has worked with the Education Bureau of Hong Kong and designed Learning and Teaching (L&T) exemplars for Hong Kong Mathematics curriculum with STEM elements.

"I am always amazed by kids' creativity, imagination and especially their learning ability. I am grateful to be able to witness student building something out of nothing. At First Code, everyone is open-minded, supportive and willing to share. It is not an ordinary workplace, it is a place to add values to self.  When I am not in the office, you'd probably find me enjoying life via various ways: sipping a cup of flat white in a hipster coffee house, exploring the roads less taken in this concrete jungle or taking screenshots from a bird's eye view at the peak of mountains."

Adeline T

Adeline T

The culture at First Code is friendly and collaborative and I am very excited to grow, learn and build relationships with our students. And I’ve always wished that my mom had sent me to First Code when I was young!"

Kenneth N

Kenneth N

Instructor

Kenneth has been amazed by technology ever since he was young.   He started programming when he was 13 and chose to study computer engineering with a concentration in software in university. His computer degree was able to demystify many computer related questions that he had pondered before and opened him up to numerous amazing topics in technology. He believes there is no limit as to what he can achieve in the amazing technology world.  On the other hand, he finds there are many misconceptions about the technology world and feels an urgent need to correct it for our next generation.

"Most people find computer science to be over complicated, but computer is just simple concepts put into complex actions.  If you break it down piece by piece, you can understand exactly how it works.  My dream is to have more people understanding this and start learning more about technologies around them.  The hardest part to fulfill this dream is to get started, so joined First Code to educate and empower our next generation of creators with technology.  In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, playing video games and swimming."
