"Every day at First Code I work on a variety of different tasks including product development, teacher training, parent communication, and of course, teaching! I feel incredibly lucky to be able to combine my passion in technology and the endless inspiration from the kids we teach. When I’m not at office, you can likely find me trying out new recipes in my kitchen, reading a book or doing TRX in a park."
"I love building things from nothing to something. I am now focusing on Operations, People Operations, and Software. The laughter in our classrooms and the confidence in our kids' eyes really got me. First Code is not just a startup or a coding school, it is a mission and a lifestyle. We're creating a place where team members are excited to get together and students are thrilled to come to classes. We're full of dreams, energies, and determination. If I'm not at First Code, you might find me at home coding or reading and running outdoor."
"A picture tells a thousand stories yet it can also tell one meaningful story. I love sharing what our students accomplish everyday and really show the world how coding is creating a positive change in the lives of young people. If I can inspire one kid to be the next Elon Musk or be a leader in his own right, then I believe I have done my duty in society. In my spare time, you'd probably see me filming random things, like shooting a pebble for hours. I love being active and healthy 24/7 as well!"
"Being an instructor at First Code is a fun and rewarding experience. With its amazing team and students, the First Code family is one that supports, encourages and learns from each another. The students bring so much energy and excitement into the classroom, and seeing them apply new and personal ideas to their technological creations, sometimes even beyond the classroom, is truly inspiring. In my free time, I enjoy reading fantasy novels, knitting, solving puzzles and eating chocolate."
"First Code’s culture is fun, creative and enjoyable. It is really nice to see our team grow bigger and bigger. I also like the fact that everyone here is so open and supportive of each other. We are like family, living in a close-knit community. Furthermore, I love building relationships with the parents and students here. It brings a smile to my face when everyone is happy. In my spare time, I’m most likely on a basketball court, shopping or chilling out with my family and friends.”
"Being the direct mentor of our kids in learning programming at such a young age is fulfilling. I'm able to guide them to progress from lesson one, often with zero coding experience, to completing a mobile app or website by the end of the term. At First Code, everything is moving really fast and I enjoy learning together with a team of exceptional and fun people! You could probably find me spotting aircraft at airport, reading or exercising when I am not in the office."
"First Code Academy is a magic palace with positive, joyful, friendly and energetic elements around. Full of laughter and satisfaction in everyday classes. You discover what is called " the infinite universe of a child" in here, as kids rely on their creativity and their knowledge of coding to make their own apps, even if they are only 6 years old. You can see how presentable and how confident the kids who learn in First Code are.
Team spirit is really strong in FCA, our working culture is like a family, friends more than colleagues. We learn and help each other, even if we all have different roles. I work on a variety of tasks including administration, planning, and decision making. I feel amazingly lucky that I work here, back in the education field. My idea of the perfect day would start with an Americano. When I am out of office, I am the amiable mom taking care of my daughter, being a tutor for her school work, a bedtime storyteller of my little sweetheart as well as a recreation team leader of my family too."
"I strongly feel that students can only thrive in an environment where they can be genuinely curious, motivated and fearless. This is what I saw in First Code Academy, and the main reason I joined this wonderful team. The greatest reward for an educator is to see the successful fostering of skills, confidence and pride in their students and mentees. When I am not teaching, writing curriculum or coding, I like to read, play the saxophone and practice Muay Thai."
"It’s truly enjoyable to see students create their unique apps and projects using what they have learned here, and I feel particularly inspired by the kids’ constant eagerness to learn more. First Code is more than just a workplace; it is also a family, a community, a reading club, and a running team. Outside of First Code, you will find me playing lacrosse with Hong Kong Lacrosse Team, running or hanging out with my younger brother."
"I am always amazed by kids' creativity, imagination and especially their learning ability. I am grateful to be able to witness student building something out of nothing. At First Code, everyone is open-minded, supportive and willing to share. It is not an ordinary workplace, it is a place to add values to self. When I am not in the office, you'd probably find me enjoying life via various ways: sipping a cup of flat white in a hipster coffee house, exploring the roads less taken in this concrete jungle or taking screenshots from a bird's eye view at the peak of mountains."
"Ever since my first encounter with coding in my freshman year in university, I have always been amazed by its power. I have always wondered - “why start coding so late?”, until I got to know First Code. Teaching young people to code? Brilliant idea! I am so jealous of what kids can learn nowadays - it would have been one of my favorite after-school activities! Now here I am - in a young team full of energetic and supportive people. Being in First Code is not about "working" at all - I learn, grow as a person and inspire the future generations. Everything has been so rewarding and enjoyable here. What's the best part? My hobby is now part of my job!"
"Being part of First Code is a true testament to ‘doing what you love’. Every day is a challenging and fulfilling experience, and I am constantly inspired by the eagerness and curiosity of our students and how our instructors would do whatever it takes to create the best learning experience. The culture at First Code is friendly and collaborative and I am very excited to grow, learn and build relationships with our students. And I’ve always wished that my mom had sent me to First Code when I was young!"
"Most people find computer science to be over complicated, but computer is just simple concepts put into complex actions. If you break it down piece by piece, you can understand exactly how it works. My dream is to have more people understanding this and start learning more about technologies around them. The hardest part to fulfill this dream is to get started, so joined First Code to educate and empower our next generation of creators with technology. In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, playing video games and swimming."
